Bensen and Nikon | Michigan Pet Photographer

Michigan Pet Photographer

I just had to share my kitties! I am known as a newborn photographer in Michigan, but not many people know I have a blast photographing my cats. Bensen and Nikon even have a facebook fan page, see it by clicking here! These are just a few of my favorites I have taken of them. I get asked a lot on how one can be a Michigan Pet Photographer. So, I am going to share some tips on photographing cats! So, stay tuned!

First I want to share how adorable my cats were as babies! You can see the Introducing Bensen post by clicking on this link. You can also see Nikon’s Introduction post by clicking here. I am so sad at how fast they have grown. It seems like I blinked and they were no longer 1 pound fur balls of sweetness.

Tips on Photographing Cats

Now, on to the tips of photographing cats. It really helps that I have been photographing both Bensen and Nikon since they were babies. They know the routine now. But if there is anything I can say, it’s to definitely remain calm. It even helps if you play with your kitty beforehand. This tires them out, and they may not be so apt to run away. Another tip is: USE COSTUMES! They seriously help. Usually cats will be like, what the heck is this on me? And they will not move at all because of it. This usually keeps my cats sitting next to each other because they won’t move anyway. Be sure to have treats, a toy or even a collar. I will shake these and it always gets my cats to look right at me.

Here are just a few favorites! They are the best little posers. Nikon has become the “easy” one to photograph now. He is so chill and calm, pretty much the opposite of how he was a kitten! If I ever want to do a new picture, Nikon is my go to cat since it’s always so easy with him. Bensen however, she is a pistol. She makes me work to get her photos. It’s funny though, she was so easy as a kitten!
