Cherishing Little Moments: Upstate Newborn Photographer Captures Baby Ayaan

Hi there! I’m Jen, the heart behind Jen Photos, your friendly Upstate Newborn Photographer based in Greenville, South Carolina. There’s something magical about newborn photography that’s kept me hooked for almost 16 years. From the tiny fingers to the gentle coos, these fleeting moments are so special. Now that I have had my own baby, I completely understand how fast it all goes and I am so thankful to have all the photos to cherish forever. I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted by families to preserve them. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing an adorable baby boy named Ayaan. This newborn shoot was extra special because Ayaan’s parents are dear friends of mine. They wanted something timeless, so we went with soft whites and hints of blue, with some cute props and hats thrown in for that classic look. Ayaan, snug in tiny hats and fun props, snoozed peacefully through most of the session. He was such a dream to work with!

The Joy of Newborn Photography

Newborn photography isn’t just about taking pretty pictures—it’s about storytelling. Every baby brings their own little personality, even in those early days, and it’s my mission to capture that essence. Whether it’s a cheeky yawn, a sleepy stretch, or the way they instinctively curl up in their parents’ arms, each detail is priceless. Over the years, I’ve learned that patience and flexibility are key. Babies operate on their own schedules, and that’s perfectly fine. A little cuddle or feeding break? No problem. My goal is to create a relaxed, stress-free environment so both baby and parents can enjoy the experience.

I recently had the joy of photographing a beautiful newborn session in Greenville, South Carolina, and it was such a memorable experience! The baby was an incredible sleeper, which made capturing those perfect, peaceful poses so much easier. As a newborn photographer, I always feel lucky when the little ones are relaxed during the session because it allows me to get creative with angles, lighting, and different setups.

Tips on Preparing for Newborn Sessions with Jen Photos

If you’re preparing for your newborn photography session, there are a few tips I always share with parents. First, make sure to schedule the session within the first 5-14 days of your baby’s life. During this time, babies are still very sleepy and easy to pose. It’s also helpful to keep the room warm and cozy, which will make your newborn more comfortable during the session. Another important tip is to keep your baby awake for a bit before the session and feed them right before. This helps ensure that they are sleepy and content for those adorable, curled-up poses. Bring a few special blankets or heirlooms for a personal touch.

I love being a newborn photographer because every session is a unique opportunity to capture the wonder and beauty of new life. I had such a wonderful time with this beautiful couple! They are expecting their first baby and it was so beautiful to capture the anticipation and excitement they have to meet their little guy! We spent the evening in the beautiful downtown area of Spartanburg, South Carolina. The weather was just beautiful, and there was a breeze that we enjoyed when normally in August it is only southern heat that South Carolina offers! One of my favorite parts about our session together was all the beautiful and scenic views we had.

Maternity photography is all about capturing the unique beauty of pregnancy and celebrating this precious time before welcoming a new baby into the world. During the session, we used natural poses to help create a serene atmosphere. It was a beautiful summer day in Greenville, South Carolina and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day for this wedding! As a Greenville SC Wedding Photographer, I have had the opportunity to capture the wedding day of many couples. This was definitely one of my favorites! I loved being able to capture the love that the bride and groom had for each other. They are such wonderful people and they both deserve a lifetime of happiness!

Choosing South Carolina for a Wedding

South Carolina is known for its beautiful and scenic views. Because of the fantastic weather, its historic plantations, and picturesque gardens, it makes the perfect location for any couple wanting to have a beautiful and unforgettable wedding! The state’s warm hospitality and southern charm make it a memorable experience for out-of-town guests.

Photographing the Bride and Groom’s Formal Photos

We got such beautiful pictures of the bride and groom and had such lovely backdrops! For any clients wondering about how much time to allot for photos, make sure you give yourself at least thirty minutes. One hour is even better. A good photographer can make the best of any location and get stunning shots no matter where you are! They can also work quickly to ensure you have a variety of photos, as well!

I had so many favorites from photographing this wedding that it was hard to narrow down for the sneak peek! One of my absolute favorites was of the bride and groom leaving for their getaway car with bubbles being blown everywhere by the guests! I also loved all the ones we got from the bride and groom. Noah | Greenville SC Senior Photography

Greenville SC Senior Photography

It was so fun to photograph Noah’s senior photography session in downtown Greenville! We had the perfect weather and sunlight! Greenville poured some rain on us during the end but it was short and sweet and just what we needed to cool us down in the southern heat! As a photographer who has specialized in Greenville SC Senior Photography for almost 2 decades, I could not have asked for a better day for this session!

Dressing for Your Shoot

I often get asked what kind of clothes seniors should wear to their photography session. I usually recommend 2-3 outfits in your favorite colors. We will do changes throughout the photoshoot so that there will be a variety in the finished product. Different shoes can be worn, as well, to help finish off that fun senior look.

Falls Park on the Reedy

I had so much fun doing this shoot in downtown Greenville! We got some beautiful shots in Falls Park, showcasing its beautiful scenery, bridges, and waterfalls! I had so many favorites from our shoot so there is a major overshare for this sneak peek! My favorites were definitely with the waterfalls. Noah had to do some major rock climbing for some of these pictures but I would say it was well worth it!
